about

This record was composed entirely during the COVID-19 crisis in the United States during the months of March and April 2020, and performed entirely by the composer into Audacity with one Blue Yeti Microphone.

Beyond just providing me a respite from the long hours of "nothing-much-happening", my goal was to provide immediate commentary on some of the events that are happening in Chicago as they're happening. Furthermore, because there is no melody on these, a performer can use them as scaffolds for spoken-word, singing, or instrumental playing. Use these as a way to be creative on your own time during your crisis.

I also want to draw specific attention to 'Kid in a Cell', which is about and for the migrant kids incarcerated in Chicago, specifically the 19 children locked up in Englewood at 7351 S. Princeton, Chicago, IL. There are babies in this facility. Their jailors' number is (773)-966-5742.

50% of the children incarcerated in Chicago have coronavirus, due to the tight quarters. 9 out of 10 of them have family members in the States who would gladly take them in.

If you want to learn more, visit www.lvsolidaridad.com/faq.html to learn more, as the Little Village Solidarity Networks have been doing work to release these children for years.

Enjoy this work from the safety of your home, but please reflect on why you're safe and who helped you get there. Now consider where you would be on your own, and give according to your ability to people who are in that spot now.
